BLACK HOPEFULL OF GILBERT RECOVERY
New City signing Peter Gilbert had to come off Injured in his debute against
Rushden and Diamonds. The Welsh U21 star hobbled off after playing 1 hour of the game.
Foxes coach Kenny Black said: "Peter was clearing the ball and as he turned
he felt his thigh. He was a little but tight after the game but he seemed okay later in the evening and will be going in for
treatment.
"The early indication is that he's pulled a thigh muscle."
SCOTSMEN AXED
Peter Canero has today had his contract terminated by Leicester City. Canero was
bought to the walkers stadium in the January of 2004 to help city fight relegation form the premiership.
The 24-year-old defender, who was into the final year of his deal after signing from
Kilmarnock in January 2004, is now free to look for other clubs after leaving the Walkers Stadium.
Canero made his
first start for Craig Levein's men in over eight months on Monday evening when he played in the Foxes' 2-1 pre-season friendly
defeat to Inter Milan.
He was booked inside the opening 60 seconds.
Injuries have blighted Canero's progress
and he made just 13 appearances in a City shirt.
Manager Levein said: "We wish Peter all the best for his future playing
career."
